This Privacy Policy explains how Vesper ("the app," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Vesper is operated by Jasmine Maddy-Taylor. By using Vesper, you agree to the practices described below.
Vesper does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, or password. The plans you save, your preferences, and your activity stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is the text you enter when you ask the app to generate a date plan, which is sent to our AI provider to create that plan. If you enable location, your approximate (city-level) location may also be used to tailor suggestions. We do not run ads, we do not use third-party tracking or analytics, and we do not sell or share your information with data brokers.
Plans you save, your selected preferences (such as mood and budget), notes, and any "memories" you add are stored locally on your device by the app. We do not have access to this information, and it is not transmitted to us. If you delete the app, this information is removed from your device.
When you ask Vesper to generate a date plan, the information you provide for that request — such as the mood, budget, optional notes you type, and general context like a city or region — is sent through our secure server to our third-party AI provider, Anthropic, PBC, which generates the suggested plan and returns it to the app.
This text is used only to generate your plan in that moment. We do not attach your name, email, or any account identifier to these requests, because the app has no account system. Anthropic processes the request to return a response and, per its commercial terms, does not use inputs submitted through its API to train its models. Using the AI feature is optional. If you do not use it, no information leaves your device through it. You can stop this data sharing at any time by not using the date-plan generator.
If you allow it, Vesper uses your device's approximate location (city-level, not precise coordinates) to suggest date ideas near you. Location access is optional and only requested with your permission through the standard iOS prompt. Your approximate location is used to generate relevant suggestions and is not linked to your identity, stored on our servers, or used to track you. You can turn location access off at any time in your device Settings.
If Vesper offers a paid upgrade, all payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details. Apple's handling of your purchase information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
If you enable reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not collect or transmit any information to send these to you.
Because your saved content lives on your device, you control it. You can delete individual saved plans within the app, and deleting the app removes all locally stored data. The text used for an AI request is processed to generate a response and is not retained by us in a form linked to you.
Vesper is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because Vesper does not collect personal information that identifies you or maintain it on our servers, most requests can be satisfied by managing or deleting content on your device. Any third party that processes information in connection with the app, such as our AI provider and Apple for payments, is required to handle that information in line with their own obligations and protections comparable to those described here. We share information with these parties only as needed to provide the app's functionality.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
